Ridge Meadows Hospital Quality improvement Award
First awarded in 2022 – this award was created to recognise the Quality Improvement work of Dr. Scott Tancon at Ridge Meadows hospital.
It has since been awarded to other physicians whose additional work in quality improvement has had an impact at our hospital and in the wider medical community.
It recognizes Medical staff who cultivate a spirit of QI and inspire others to adopt QI practices. Winners are committed to leading QI projects/initiatives and helping others get involved & interested in Quality improvement.

Dr. Joseph Lee
We are proud to recognize Dr. Joseph Lee as this year’s winner for his exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing patient care at Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Among his many contributions, Dr. Lee has led efforts to strengthen care for patients with complex addictions, developing educational resources and delivering training to both physicians and staff on available support and best practices in addiction medicine.
Congratulations, Dr. Joseph Lee, and thank you for your continued leadership.

This award was presented to Dr. Marni Heed, to recognize her dedication and work in NSQIP.
The National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) of the American College of Surgeons provides risk-adjusted surgical outcome measures for participating hospitals that can be used for performance improvement of surgical mortality and morbidity.
Marni’s unwavering dedication ensures the well-being of surgical patients, and this award showcases her commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to evidence-based practices, ultimately contributing to positive patient outcomes. Despite many challenges our site has faced over the last few years including COVID-19, staffing challenges, and impacts to access and flow, Marni has remained steadfast in her commitment to providing exceptional care to our community.

Dr. Scott Tancon
Dr. Scott Tancon spearheaded the RMH simulation program at Ridge Meadows Hospital (along with the CNEs in ER) which involves staff and students from the entire hospital. He is also working at the FHA level to build simulation resources.
He was an integral voice in our COVID pandemic planning, helping segregate our waiting room to isolate COVID-suspected patients and maintaining flow of other, non COVID cases. He has sat on our quality improvement committee in ER, teaches ACLS and PALS to our staff and nurses. He is an asset to our team and our medical staff!
Scott is a very hard working and collegial ER doc, thank you for everything you do.
