Fraser Health Medical Staff Recognition Program is for all FHA sites, and is a program sponsored by the VP Medicine portfolio. Recognition is seen as a key consideration that helps create a workplace where medical staff discover joy, agency, and appreciation.
The Ridge Meadows Hospital Teacher of the Year Award recognizes a medical staff member who exemplifies excellence in teaching. This individual is deeply committed to supporting learners, brings enthusiasm to their subject, and communicates feedback with clarity and fairness. They demonstrate strong command of their field, organize knowledge in accessible ways, and model professionalism in every teaching moment—leaving a lasting impact on those they mentor.

Dr. Rachel Williams
We are honored to present this year’s Fraser Health Teacher of the Year Award to Dr. Rachel Williams for her commitment to education, leadership, and meaningful contributions to Indigenous cultural learning at Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Over the past year, Dr. Williams has played a key role in advancing Indigenous education through the delivery of in-person learning sessions, including drop-in opportunities aligned with Indigenous Peoples Day and Truth and Reconciliation Day. She has also supported the uptake of Fraser Health’s Cłhi:ya:ỳəstəl’ Indigenous Education course by facilitating local sessions and promoting engagement among medical staff. Her approach to teaching includes creating space for dialogue, reflection, and shared learning and this has helped make complex and important topics more accessible and impactful.
In addition to her teaching work, Dr. Williams contributed to the commissioning and installation of a territorial acknowledgement plaque by local Indigenous artist Rain Pierre. The unveiling ceremony brought together members of Katzie First Nation, hospital leadership, medical staff, and community partners, representing a meaningful step toward relationship-building and reconciliation at our site.
Through her thoughtful leadership and dedication to education, Dr. Williams has created opportunities for learning that extend beyond traditional teaching environments. Her work has supported greater awareness, strengthened connections, and encouraged ongoing engagement with Indigenous perspectives in healthcare.

Known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to teaching, Dr. Lee goes above and beyond to support learners—not only those directly under her supervision, but also those on other services who seek her guidance. She approaches each teaching moment with enthusiasm, clarity, and care, ensuring that every learner feels supported, challenged, and respected.
Dr. Lee is admired for her meticulous approach to education, her strong organizational skills, and her ability to communicate complex ideas with ease. She provides thoughtful, balanced feedback that helps learners grow in both confidence and competence. Her fair and compassionate style has made her a trusted mentor and a source of inspiration for many.
